Porchlight Counseling Services is a program of the Center for Law and Social Work, a Chicago not-for-profit organization. Porchlight exists to help college sexual assault survivors achieve healing and wholeness and to create a world in which a person’s life is not defined by the devastating experience of sexual assault. We provide counseling, educational workshops on campus, and other services to college students, regardless of gender, who were sexually assaulted during college. We also provide services to adults who are no longer in college but who were assaulted while they were in college or graduate school. Our goal is to provide high-quality counseling and services at no charge to the client. We aim to provide those services quickly in order to help the sexual assault survivor heal and get on with life. Our service area includes Chicago, Evanston, and Oak Park.
We started in 2004 by a group of community members who were very concerned about the high incidence of sexual assault among college students.
Board Of Directors
These community members gathered together and began discussing what could be done about this problem. They partnered with a Psychologist and conducted a feasibility study to find out what college sexual assault survivors most needed.
Porchlight therapists: are highly qualified, specialize in sexual assault recovery and trauma informed therapy, and have offices located across the Chicago area.
